These are REAL arguments that parents at my high school’s preschool program said to me when I asked them why they don’t let their children play with toys for the opposite sex or dress like the opposite gender.
“It’ll make my son gay”
If your the type if parent who thinks this, you should be ashamed. How in the holy mother of fuck will playing with a barbie doll make your son gay? I would think boys would become gay playing with those WWE Figures with their chest out. Have you seen those things? Wow.
“I don’t want to be embarrassed in front of other parents”
This.is.NOT.about.you.it’s about.them. As a parent, one of your roles is making sure your child is comfortable and safe. So what if your daughter wants to wear a avengers shirt? There comfortable right? Then you shouldn’t worry about what other parents say. Just know that your child is happy.
“I don’t want my child to get bullied”
Okay, this a pretty good one here, but kids at younger ages do not care if a child is playing with something that is assigned for the opposite gender. Now, granted, as the child gets older they might be bullied, but that’s when you step in as a parent and make it stop.
That’s the main three that I got from parents.
My viewpoint is. A toy is a fucking toy, it won’t matter in 20 years what they played with. All that mattered is that they had a great childhood.
Also if my kid wants to dress up like the opposite gender, they are NOT going to look ugly doing it. *snaps fingers* peace out.
